Laparoscopic Surgery can be used for: Tubal Sterilization, Endometriosis, Fibroids, Ectopic pregnancy and Hysterectomy. Laparoscopy is a type of surgery that is a way of doing surgery using small incisions (usually no more than ½ inch long) compared to making an incision that can be several inches long in the abdomen.   Laparoscopic surgery can also be referred to as “minimally invasive surgery.”

Hysterectomy is surgery to remove the uterus. Hysterectomy is used to treat many women’s health conditions such as: Uterine fibroids, endometriosis, uterine prolapse, abnormal uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain and gynecological cancer. Hysterectomy’s can be performed laparoscopically or vaginally. Your provider will consult you on the best method for your care plan.

Uterine Fibroids are benign (not cancer) growths that develop from the muscle tissue of the uterus. Women between the ages of 30-40 years are more likely to experience fibroids. Symptoms of uterine fibroids are: changes in menstruation, longer, more frequent periods, cramps, and anemia just to name a few. There are several methods to diagnose and treat uterine fibroids.   However, if surgery is required, Myomectomy may be performed. Myomectomy is the surgical removal of fibroids while leaving the uterus in place.

Dilation and Curettage (D&C) is a surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions of the uterus.  A D&C consist of opening up the cervix, placing a thin instrument into the uterus and removing tissue from inside the uterus, also known as curettage.  This procedure can be done for various reasons and in the comfort of our office.
